With a career spent focused on fraud investigation and prevention, Tracy Coenen, CPA, CFF is the driving force behind Sequence Inc. She is a forensic accountant, fraud investigator and expert witness who shares her knowledge through her writings and training session.
A solo practitioner for more than 14 years, Tracy enjoys working directly with her clients, and being responsible for the success of each engagement. She can often be heard saying, “what you see is what you get,” a reference to her hands-on approach to financial investigations.
Tracy has authored two books published by John Wiley & Sons, Expert Fraud Investigation: A Step-by-Step Guide and Essentials of Corporate Fraud. The books take a practical approach to all-things fraud, breaking down the fraud facts and her methodology in ways that are easy to understand. In addition, Tracy is the lead author of the AICPA’s publication The CPA’s Handbook of Fraud and Commercial Crime Prevention. Her most recent book, Lifestyle Analysis in Divorce Cases: Investigating Spending and Finding Hidden Income and Assets was published by the American Bar Association.Tracy has written more than one hundred articles on fraud examination and financial investigations for industry publications, and is an avid blogger on fraud.
Tracy is a frequent speaker at industry conferences, and has presented for organizations such as the American Bar Association, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), International Association for Asset Recovery (IAAR), National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts (NACVA), Association of Certified Fraud Specialists, Tennessee Society of CPAs, Indiana CPA Society, Society of Louisiana CPAs, Milwaukee Bar Association, and Wisconsin Institute of CPAs.
She also conducts private training sessions for law firms, accounting firms, and government agencies, with courses running from one hour to two full days.
Tracy was an adjunct instructor at Marquette University and has been an adjunct faculty member for the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) and Concordia University – Wisconsin. She was honored by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners as the 2007 winner of the Hubbard Award. Tracy is a 2010 Marquette University Alumni National Awards winner, receiving the Entrepreneurial Award from the College of Business Administration.
